Getting Rid of Winter Skin

Getting Rid of Winter Skin

Spring is in the air and our skin is sure looking like it has a long road to recovery.  Just why does our skin get so distressed from the cold and wintry weather?

One of the main problems is from our indoor climates.   The air inside of our homes and temperature controlled buildings becomes very dry during the heating and ventilation process and then... so do we. That dry air also feels colder to us than humid air does and in tern, we turn up the heat and create more dry conditions. Colder temperatures also do not hold the same amount of moisture in the air in general as warmer air temperatures and it all leads to a general state of dehydration.

Another one of the hardest on our skin in the winter is the constant hand washing.  Especially during this last, CRAZY pandemic year, washing our hands is a must and we've all been doing it more (BTW - GOOD JOB - YEH!!!!).   This continuous washing removes more and more of the natural oils enabling greater evaporation to skin already in need.  And it's not just hands - of course not.  If you're anything like me, showering in the winter becomes longer and hotter as I use it to unthaw my frigid parts and dread getting out - brrrrr....  This kind of hot showering deprives our skin even more of the moisture and skin nourishing oils it needs.

Its no wonder we emerge from winters slumber looking like crusty prunes of the Tundra!  While it is our entire body thats effected, the hands and feet get hit the hardest.  I have seen so many customers this year with cracked and bleeding hands and feet.  Whether you're a nurse, a diabetic or just struggling with cracked and dry skin, just know you are not alone.

This month we are focusing on some products to get our skin back to healthy just in time to show off those beautiful hands and feet under the sun.  Our March 2021 small batch, Sole Saver, has a built in luffa exfoliator mixed with spearmint and tea tree to open up those air passages and ward off any invading microbes.  Our new Butter Bar is made to heal those heels and nourish that skin in need.  This March we encourage everyone to MARCH ON with those feet and skin in repair from winter's harsh effects.  Check out all of our seasonal offerings here as we emerge from the darkness and welcome in the season of sunshine.

Peace and Love,

Shannon
